I have the exact same issue. No boot on 3.5.0.1 Tried rc3 and about to try rc2. Among the many commits, from 2 to 3, I found that this one has given similar trouble. https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/6/17/52

I am on an Xorg 1.11 system, running fglrx, amd64
