Have now tested Thinkpad 390E with Hardy Heron, both the 2.6.22 and 2.6.24 kernels.

CPU fan runs normally under both WHEN RUNNING FROM HARD DRIVE INSTALLATION.

Fan did not run when booted from Live CD.
