I just came across part of this bug in bug #78257 where someone is having trouble with sound in kernel 2.6.20-5. I'm now running 2.6.20-11

[ 0.161771] PCI: Failed to allocate mem resource #6:20000@c0000000 for 0000:01:00.0

I've gone through all the bugs for this kernel which have a similar problem with allocation and given them the tag 'allocate' - I hope that helps with debugging for someone.
