I installed Dapper Drake RC1 on a Toshiba S100 laptop this weekend using the graphical installer "Desktop CD" and did not experience any of the previously mentioned drive detection issues.
I had installed Flight5 on this laptop previously and ran into the same old bug with the installer getting confused when it ran into the raid controller. I decided to try RC1, the installer correctly identified the drive and existing partitions, formatted the partitions and installed correctly.
I am reluctant to claim this bug has been fixed due to my very limited understanding of the specific issue. But given that I had run into this issue with flight5 on this exact same laptop and can now install fine using RC1 this bug may be history.
