Sympy, you're right! It *seems* to be fixed in linux-image-2.6.24-16-generic. I was loading the newly-installed "linux-image-2.6.24-17-generic" (i'm assuming this was installed with the proposed updates). what's the safest way to remove this?
also, should I keep updating proposed updates in the Update Manager?
