Yes, it's still a problem. The manpages are also woefully out of date and reference programs such as test-xfer that are long gone. I wanted to simply access the data on the drive using nautilus or even gnomevfs-ls and friends.
I'm happy to use fuse, but I believe if a package is in the archive, it should do something!
