@Juerg I have only one Ubuntu PC (a brand new MinisForum MC560, with AMD Ryzen 5 5625u with radeon graphics × 12, with new installation of Ubuntu 22.04 Desktop using the default Wayland) with this problem i.e. it hangs if I try to connect by Wired using the standard method. So I connect by Wifi to my router, which works Ok.

I have NOT installed any third party or other drivers or firmware (i.e. the only drivers & firmware installed on it are those that the Ubuntu installation installed). The only other software that I have installed are snap packages for apps (e.g. Joplin) and apps like Avidemux from a Launchpad ppa (none of which have ever caused any problem like this one in the past).

At first the Wired connection worked but then it suddenly stopped working: this occurred after a freeze of keyboard and mouse without the PC displaying a blank screen due to inactivity) which happened as I was away from the PC for an hour or so. When I restarted the PC, on the BIOS 'start' it showed a few orphaned iodes but it booted Ok.

The other Ubuntu computer (an old Pentium laptop also running Ubuntu 22.04 Desktop upgraded from 20.04 in 2022) works Ok using either Wired or Wifi connection. I also has apps like Joplin & Avidemux installed.
