I don't think this bug is a duplicate of bug 1383184, as the suggested fix:

"For now, you guys could use 15.10 (purge the ath10k-dkms if you tried installing it), and make a copy of https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/plain/ath10k/QCA6174 into /lib/firmware/ath10k/"

didn't work for me. "dmesg | grep ath" just reports the same old error as in the description. Also, I have already tried the patches from that bug report earlier and made this new one especially because it's fixes didn't work, as you can see in the beginning of the description:

"The card has the device id 168c:003e as many other cards, for example the Qualcomm Atheros Killer (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1383184), but it has a newer revision number (32) and the suggested fixes work only partially and the wireless is unusable."

That said, I've found out how it's only partially working. The suggested firmware-4.bin file from that report does work, but the board.bin file doesn't. If you replace the board.bin file with the file suggested in this bug report's post #22 the combination starts working.

The status of bug 1383184 is marked as "fix released", but having the latest network-manager and linux-firmware on kernel 4.4.0-040400rc5-generic (Ubuntu 15.10) does not fix the issue with the REVISION 32 of the card, which needs the customized board.bin file.

So, not a duplicate?
