Same issue, this is what I get on tty7:

 * Checking battery state... [ok]
 * Starting TIMidity++ ALSA midi emulation.. [ok]
 * Stopping system V runlevel compatibility [ok]
Waiting for network configuration...
 * Stopping read required files in advance [ok]
Waiting up to 60 more seconds for network configuration...
Booting system without full network configuration...
 * Stopping Failsafe Boot Delay [ok]

I switched to ctrl - alt - F1, and run "/etc/init.d/lightdm start ; exit" and I'm in business.
