Bug Description

Problem description: When one tries to add an extension to libreoffice, libreoffice freezes or crashes

Steps to reproduce: For example, if one wants to install the extension: lo-oo-ressources-linguistiques-fr-v4-12.oxt (this file is in the current working directory) and one types "soffice lo-oo-ressources-linguistiques-fr-v4-12.oxt" at the terminal, libreoffice freezes and crashes.

Similarly if one opens libreoffice and click Tools->Extension Manager then press "Add" and select the extension to be added, libreoffice freezes and crashes. This happens for any extension. A libreoffice extension is attached; it can be used to reproduce the bug.

Operating System: Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS
Version of libreoffice: 4.1.1.2 release

Libreoffice was installed from the libreoffice 4.1 PPA which is available at: http://ppa.launchpad.net/libreoffice/libreoffice-4-1/ubuntu/dists/precise/main/binary-i386.

This bug is likely a packaging bugthat is related to the PPA build version; please see https://lists.launchpad.net/libreoffice/msg00072.html.

Current behavior: libreoffice freezes and crash when one tries to add an extension.

Expected behavior: one should be able to add supported extensions

Operating System: Ubuntu
Version: 4.1.1.2 release

This bug may be specific to the Ubuntu 12.04 libreoffice 4.1.x build that is available here: http://ppa.launchpad.net/libreoffice/libreoffice-4-1/ubuntu/dists/precise/main/binary-i386. It is definitely a bug. Do you have access to a Ubuntu 12.04 machine to verify this bug?

Thanks,

So, LibreOffice 4.1.2~rc3 on Ubuntu Saucy handles extensions just fine -- so this isnt a generic problem of the Ubuntu packages.

Please:
- create a bug on launchpad against "LibreOffice (Ubuntu)"
- tag the bug with "ppa"
  https://lists.launchpad.net/libreoffice/msg00072.html
- attach the extension causing you trouble
- mark this bug as an upstream bug of that one
- and add a link to the launchpad bug on this bug in the "see also:" field

Thanks!

Extension from comment #1 installs without any issue on 4.1.2~rc3 on saucy, so likely a issue with the backport to precise.
CCing Rico.

I notice that libreoffice doesn't create a .libreoffice directory in my home directory. could the problem of not been able to add libreoffice extensions relate to this?

I have same problem with LibreOffice 4.1.3.2 410m0(Build:2). Whenever I try to install LanguageTool extension or even just check for updates through Extension Manager, LibreOffice freezes.

I use Kubuntu 13.10 (32-bit)
