Ok, /etc/cups/lpoptions is modified actually when running "gksudo gnome-cups-manager". File looks like it should according to my settings:
Dest DeskJet-5940 PrintoutMode=Draft.Gray Quality=FromPrintoutMode PageRegion=A4
but these settings are ignored.
Don't know if this has something to do with the bug, but I get the following output only when starting gnome-cups-manager with gksudo:
(gnome-printer-view:5539): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manag er:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.
