So it could be a problem of automatically adding the groups to the
first user? You should open a new bug if that's the case.

I manually added myself in most of them:
forger@ubuntu:~$ groups
forger adm lp dialout fax cdrom tape audio dip video plugdev netdev
scanner fuse lpadmin pulse pulse-access pulse-rt admin sambashare
vboxusers boinc libvirtd

I have another user which have created, and have set her user
privileges through System > Administration > Users and groups >
Properties > User privileges:
$ groups iva
iva dialout fax cdrom tape audio dip video netdev scanner fuse lpadmin
sambashare

I also noticed that you weren't in the "audio" group. (The "Use audio
devices" privilege in Users and Groups)
