Same issue here, using Ubuntu 9.04 x86 and Kino 1.3.0.
On this topic[1], ddennedy says that upgrading Kino to 1.3.3 version fix this problem. I've downloaded and installed this version of Kino from getdeb[2] (there's only a package for Intrepid, but it seems to work) and the problem has gone.
