Bug Description

If you remove Indicator-applet-session from the panel, shutdown and log out menu items re-appear on the system menu (incidentally, I think they should be there all the time!). If you then re-add indicator-applet-session to the panel, they dissapear, but they also take system menu entries
Help and Support
About Gnome
About Ubuntu
with them.

After a reboot these items are restored to the system menu.

I think all these items should be on the menu all the time, irrespective of whether indicator-applet-session is present or not.

Stephen, the reason the shutdown and logout items are removed is to make the System menu cleaner, but some users might not have indicator-applet-session running which is why they aren't simply always absent from the System menu.

summary: - Remove and Reinstall Applet removes About Gnome menu item
+ When indicator-applet-session is first added to a session it removes too

This is a fairly shallow issue - it's easily worked around (reboot), so marking wishlist.

Changed in indicator-applet:
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Triaged
