I also have this issue. Running Ubuntu 10.10 amd64 as a VM on VMWare. Trying to install a Bitnami native installer for Alfresco.

Installed the ia32 (20090808ubuntu9), didn't work.

Also tried an older version of ia32, didn't work.

Then tried setting file permissions as stated above, didn't work either.

Since this is a VM, I am using the generic VGA video drivers, if it matters.

Any other suggestions please?
