Also I'm not a programmer and my knowledge of Ubuntu is slightly more advanced than "newbie". I have used Terminal and Synaptic. If you want me to do something, be very detailed about how and what you want me to do. For example say "Go into Terminal" and then tell me exactly what you want me to type.

P.S. but with all of the HP 1000 not printing problems I found when I Yahoo searched for a solution, I'm hoping you that you figure out what to fix in Ubuntu then distribute a fix to everyone through Update Manager. I found a solution and fuxed this once about 2 or 3 years ago, but I can't find the same pages to try the same fixes.
