Ahh, ignore me, I just read Ken's comment in #21, Gwibber doesn't _need_ to use the indicator menu to function, so python-indicate is not a dependency. So the problem is why isn't python-indicate being installed by default.
Maybe python-indicate should be a dependency of ubuntu-desktop or some other meta package?
