Bug Description

I added my facebook account to Gwibber. Posted one thing to my wall to test, this worked but I decided against using gwibber.

I removed my facebook account. But when I go to gwibber social client from the applications menu (ubuntu 10.04 alpha 3) I am shown the accounts page, then when I close that I get the social broadcast messages page, this still shows the stream that it got from facebook. I have tried to completely remove gwibber, restart and reinstall to see if it still shows, and it does. I also blocked the application from within facebook itself.

Is this a bug, or me doing something wrong. The stream is not getting anything new, and it crashes if I try to comment or anything. But I feel its a privacy concern that its still got my stream showing.

Yes, this is Gwibber's standard behavior. When an account is deleted, the messages are shown with gray highlighting. This is because the messages are cached in the user's CouchDB and are still accessible after account deletion.

Several users have expressed confusion about this, so I'm seriously considering changing it in future versions.

Thanks for getting back to me about this Ryan. It was my first time using Gwibber so I was unsure what it was supposed to be doing.

I have removed Gwibber from my laptop for the time being, but may start using it on my desktop where privacy and security is slightly less of a concern, as this was my main concern.

It should be noticed that not even the gray highlighting does not occur when deleting specific posts.

Bug #528249, which as marked as a duplicate of this one, mentions both deleted posts and deleted accounts. I think the description of this one should be changed to consider both cases or a separate report should be filed for each case.

Stupid double negative above. Should've been "...not even the gray highlighting occurs when..."

I have this, except with Friendfeed. My Friendfeed account is showing up in my sidebar (where all the account icons are) and not showing in my "broadcast accounts" window.

I'm running Lucid Beta 2 and the daily-ppa for Gwibber.

Confirm this for Lucid Release. Is it fixed in version from ppa repo? It's pretty annoying.

I am still having a problem with deleted messages remaining in gwibber. They are messages that I posted to twitter through gwibber, then later deleted through gwibber, but they still appear in gwibber. I am using 2.32.2 on Ubuntu 10.10
