Bug Description

Binary package hint: gwibber

In Lucid Alpha 3, Gwibber is not deleting deleted posts from the timeline. In Karmic, deleted messages did not disappear with a refresh, but at least disappeared after you closed Gwibber and opened it again. Now not even this works, and deleted posts stay in the timeline forever.

Note: this happens with Twitter, didn't test other protocols.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

I added in the original report that this happens to me with Twitter but I didn't test other protocols.

But with Twitter the bug is perfectly reproducible.

1) Ask someone you follow to post a new message.
(alternatively, create a dummy account so you don't
have to bother people you follow)

2) Refresh Gwibber, the new message should appear.

3) Ask that someone to delete the message.

4) Refresh Gwibber, the message stays in the timeline,
but it should disappear.

5) Close Gwibber and open it again. The deleted
message is *still* there.

I've confirmed now that this is not just a problem with explicitly deleted messages. It seems Gwibber currently does not support removal of posts from the timeline at all. I've added another account (my identi.ca account), refreshed the timeline (effectively receiving the messages from the new account) and then proceeded to remove the account. The posts from the removed account keep appearing in the timeline.

yes I confirm your last comment it does not remove any thing if I delete my facebook account/ twitter. Then again can this be by design.?

Doesn't seem like a design decision... If one removes an account, I think it's safe to assume that he does not desire to see posts from that account anymore.

This is something that should really be fixed for 2.30

I have just marked a bug duplicate and that bug had the problem that messages deleted with gwibber are deleted on the website but they remain visible on gwibber.

Bug still present in Lucid Beta 1.

I'm surprised this is not milestoned, assigned, or at least being given more attention. Due to the fact that Gwibber now supports deletion of messages, the error is very blatant to the end user and in my opinion very important to fix.
