Bug Description

When i am in a drop down menu i can not change the volume via my keyboard volume control dial. This is not very important but if anyone has 8 seconds to fix it that'd be cool. I have the newest intrepid as of october 19th 2008

Here are the files requested in the troubleshooting details from the wiki. Thanks for finding the duplicate Andres - I could not find it yesterday at the bug jam.

Also, the problem does not happen when I attempt to duplicate this bug and the mute button is not recognized (ie: it works, but does not get the OSD for mute). On a later report of this I noted that this appears to have something to do with events being recognized. (xserver-xorg-input-evdev).

gtk grabs keyboard events to get menus working that's not a bug

I disagree with Sebastien for two reasons:

1. The behavior is not consistent between models of computers. The T42p behaved differently than the T60p; if GTK is designed to grab all keyboard events when a menu is opened then the results would be consistent.
2. If GTK is designed to handle keyboard events while a menu is open then this should be changed to a wishlist. I tested this functionality on Windows XP, Vista and OS X and the volume control - multimedia buttons all work when menus are opened.

I'm reopening a task with evdev.

Also it could be a good idea to explore the current plans for reorganizing hotkeys,
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys

And probably will need to debug this according to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting

Hi dinowarecomputers,

This bug was reported against an earlier version of Ubuntu, can you
