I can confirm this. By repeating the step outlined by Florian, nautilus acts as described; resizing a column in nautilus (when in list view) affects the left-most column. I've tried another GTK application in Applications->Accessories->Manage Print Jobs, and this behaviour is not replicated, so I'm marking it as a nautilus bug and not one of GTK.
