KML (zemoh) wrote : Video crashed (went to black screen and cursor) in the middle of software update.

Turned on the system and ran a system update (havn't run a system update in 1-2 weeks).

After it downloaded, and started to install, the screen turned black, only with the cursor blinking. Couldn't get screen back by moving mouse or pressing buttons.
Waited till i could see the updates had finished (by looking at my HD activity indicator), and tried going back and forth tty's, still no screen (cursor frozen this time). Restarted gdm* from other tty, screen flashed, but froze again. Rebooted machine, and everything started up fine.

* There is btw also an error when restarting gdm with /etc/init.d/gdm restart . It exits with the following error: /etc/init.d/gdm: 79: /etc/init.d/gdm: Syntax error: "fi" unexpected (expecting "}")

#'ed out fi on line 79 of /etc/init.d/gdm , and after that it seemed to restart (didn't fix the freezing problem in this case though).
