Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

[current version in Maverick]
In most of the dropdown lists, many choices are missing. For example, in General --> Actions --> When the suspend button is pressed, only "Suspend" and "Hibernate" are shown, when "Ask me" and "Do nothing" would be reasonable.

Here's somebody complaining about the lack of "Do nothing" in "When battery power is critically low": http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9994474&postcount=22

The full list of actions is currently only accessible from gconf-editor (apps-->gnome-power-manager-->actions and -->buttons).

Bug #156645 is a special case of this.

Kindly do no mark older *Triaged* bugs as a dup of new bugs.
Those bugs had been filed on 2007 and have corresponding upstream bugs where discussion is already taking place.
I do understand that since you have filed a bug for both the actions to be displayed, it might seem better to have them both as one bug.
But each option is a different case and each request might either be accepted or denied by the upstream devs. It's better to have them as separate bugs.
