Thanks for your report, may you tell us why you think it should include a "Do Nothing" option?

Its useful for those of us who have kids (or have family who have kids) who like to crawl around pressing things like power buttons while we are using the computer. An option to disable the button completely would be useful.

I also have this problem. In my case, for some reason the power button is "pressed" (i.e., not by me) during wakeup from suspend. I could work around this with a "do nothing" option, but instead my best alternative is "ask me". This almost works, except that for some reason the dialog box is either buried or doesn't display until the timeout, at which point it acts without allowing cancellation.

For me, this feature would be very useful. Barring that, I'd like to know how to disable the power button completely...

you can disable it via gconf-editor, just set /apps/gnome-power-manager/buttons/power to "nothing". you must set this key for each user.

If you're saying this is now one of the options in the vanilla
install, thanks very much for making this change!!!

this option is not yet in the vanilla install. at least not GUI-wise. running 9.04 at the moment.

but the gconf-editor solution works just fine. thx!

btw: this feature is also essential for kiosk systems.

Thanks very much for the workaround. It would be great to have this be a standard feature in the UI though. I have exactly the same problem as Graham (junior IT persons who like buttons and lights)

It really seems that GNOME does not care about its users' opinions. Please care, Ubuntu.
