Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

My panel crashed and I'm not sure what caused it. At the time, I was downloading something using gwget, and I had just been hit by bug #56452. I'm not sure if either is related.

Thanks for your bug report. Which version of Ubuntu and gnome-panel is it? Could you find a way of reproducing the bug?

This is Ubuntu Edgy with gnome-panel 2.16.0-0ubuntu1. I will try to reproduce the bug by using gwget again; bug #56452 doesn't seem to affect the panel every time.

The backtrace is a debug one, might be enough for upstream to figure the issue, I've forwarded it: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356532

Same problem here using Ubuntu 6.10 with panel 2.16.1-0ubuntu3.
Panel crashes, restarts without the gwget-icon, but gwget is still running. Can even still use it per FlashGot from within Firefox.
Attached the automatic generated bug-report from Bug-Buddy, which btw. pretends to not know the name of the crashed app.

That's a crash report generated from the crashing program. It's mostly for developers/triagers to narrow down the problem and specific cause of the bug.

It seems only to happen when Gwget already shows a tooltip and wants to show an other one.
On Gwget startup, it brings up a tooltip with the text "Gwget". If you leave that one open and a download finishes, Gwget wants to show that in another tooltip - crash.

I presume it is also a bug in Gwget, although of course the panel shouldn't crash when an other app is buggy...

Just my notice.
