Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

There is something really wrong in the gnome-panel translations.

First of all, in the "Add to panel" dialog, there's some strings that are translated into Spanish weeks ago, and since last langpack updates from pitty[1] they appears in English.

For example, "(you can also directly drag and drop items onto the panel):" is translated into Spanish as "(también puede arrastrarlos y soltarlos sobre el panel):" (as you can see in [2]), and that translation is in the .mo file:

ricardo@yuggoth:~ $ strings -e S /usr/share/locale-langpack/es/LC_MESSAGES/gnome-panel-2.0.mo | grep "soltar"
(también puede arrastrarlos y soltarlos sobre el panel):

And second, the System->Help submenu is fully translated into Spanish several days ago (as you can see in [3]) but the translations are not applied. They appears in English yet.

However, the translation is in Rosetta since several days (even weeks!) ago.

Probably not a panel bug. Could you try again with the updated glib2.0 libbonobo and gnome-panel from today after restarting your session? The help submenu was not translatable until today due to an issue with the template on rosetta, the next language pack updates should have those strings again

Sorry: the problem is still here. I updated my Dapper to the lastest versions available, I rebooted the whole system, but the "Add to panel" dialog is still mixed English and Spanish.

ricardo@yuggoth:~ $ dpkg -s libglib2.0-0 libbonobo2-0 gnome-panel | grep Version
Version: 2.10.2-1ubuntu3
Version: 2.14.0-0ubuntu2
Version: 2.14.1-0ubuntu15

This is a reversion problem, because the dialog was fully translated into Spanish until yesterday.

that has been fixed yesterday, next language pack update from now should fix the issue

Sorry, bad news. The problem is NOT solved with the latest langpacks:

ricardo@yuggoth:~ $ dpkg -s language-pack-gnome-es | grep Version
Version: 1:6.06+20060523

I rebooted the system, then log in, and the problem is still here. The System->Help submenu remains untranslated, and the top side of the "Add to panel" dialog appears in English.

The issue with gnome-panel is fixed please let that task closed. If there is an issue that's with rosetta or the language-packs, Ccing Carlos and Martin who work on that

Ok, sorry, I didn't know where the problem is (gnome-panel or langpacks).

How can I CC to Carlos and Martin, as you say?

Thanks a lot.
