As the filer of duplicate bug 29563 I'll just mention that I agree with Andrew and agro1986 this is actually pretty important. In windows a little icon appears in the 'active processes' thingy which should be clicked to unmount - at the moment the default in Dapper is that absolutely nothing happens - and nothing tells us that we should unmount, let along _how_ to unmount.
At the least there should be a popup of some sort (with a 'don't show this again') which tells me each time automount mounts - what it has mounted and that it's important to unmount before removing it. Windows have sensibly called it 'safely removing' to underscore that it's dangerous not to do it.

Does anyone here _really_ expect my mum to know where , why and how to unmount her new Digital Camera with USB conneciton? I think not.
