I performed the rm -fr ~/.config/autostart/ command.
I also flushed the .config directories (I hope this won't cause problems) as suggested:

find /home -type d -name .config -exec rm -rf {} \; which did remove them all

BUT, to my horror, the logout icons still take a minute plus to respond???

What am I missing?
