the delay for the logout dialog appears to be fixed now, but the dialog is still missing suspend/hibernate buttons.

Not fixed for me. The first time I press the power button (or System -> Quit) it takes *exactly* one minute for the quit dialog to appear, during which time there is no possibility of interaction with the system (except switching to a console and shutting down from there). When the dialog is shown, I do see suspend/hibernate buttons. Logs show absolutely nothing of interest. (Up-to-date gutsy on a Dell Inspiron 9400.)

BTW: if I cancel the dialog and I request it a second time, it takes only a second to appear.

rm -fr ~/.config/autostart/

That fixed things for me (Gutsy with latest updates). You can go back to System->Preferences->Sessions and re-enabled (or add) whatever services you need.

Same problem here: sometimes it shows up immedeatly, like it should. But most of the times I have to wait for about one minute.
Should be fixed before Gutsy is being released.

I'm getting the one minute delay with Gutsy now, even though we're now on final release.

I performed the rm -fr ~/.config/autostart/ command.
I also flushed the .config directories (I hope this won't cause problems) as suggested:

find /home -type d -name .config -exec rm -rf {} \; which did remove them all

BUT, to my horror, the logout icons still take a minute plus to respond???

What am I missing?

Not able to logout
PROBLEM SORTED OUT
apt-get upgrade seems to have sorted out the problem.
I have no idea how it did it but the logout is now instantaneous.
However, it is still early so let's do some more testing.
Yep, it seems to work fine now. So apt-get upgrade (not update) seems to have sorted out this problem.
But many more issues to sort out but they are for another bug report.

No it ain't - It worked well for an hour - instant logout and thereafter it seems to have gone back to wait for a minute or two to logout.
My procedure at the moment is to do a killall -9 x-session-manager followed by a script to kill all unwanted and open user processes and program processes. But is the way to live??? Frustrating is becoming a much used word around here - helpless is another.
