OK, here is is reproduced on an installed 8.04 i386 system:
 - boot and login
 - select menu Places / Computer
 - select menu Applications / Accessories / Terminal
 - in the file browser windows right click first icon, labeled "CD-RW/DVD+RW Drive" and in the popu menu select "Eject"

An error dialog pops up : "Unable to mount media. / There is probably no media in the drive."

This was a simple default install in VMWare, so if you can not reproduce it, then close the bug, because I don't see what more can I contribute.
