Comment 8 for bug 148181

This bug has been around for a long time and is really annoying... any chance of fixing it? I use Skype and my Plantronics USB headset as my main telephone, and I've got to deal with this constantly.

While we're at it, there are some other features that would be great to have with USB headsets:
- remember settings when you disconnect and reconnect the device
- volume buttons on headset control headset volume
- bug: mute button light is ON when you plug in the plantronics headset, but it's not muted. Mute button doesn't actually seem to control anything. The "toggle audio recording from microphone" switch in gnome volume control toggles the light on the device, but toggling button on device doesn't toggle the the switch in volume control.
