This bug was fixed in the package gallery2 - 2.3-1ubuntu2

gallery2 (2.3-1ubuntu2) lucid; urgency=low

  * Removed the comment from apache.conf so the alias will now work.
    (LP: #519932)
  * Forced removal of /etc/gallery2 and /usr/share/gallery2 in
    gallery2.postrm this allows gallery2 to purge correctly.
