Bug Description

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

yesterday my kubuntu 10.10 (amd64) updated the flash plugin to the version:
10.2.152.27ubuntu0.10.10.1

since then I don't have any flash plugin anymore in opera, firefox or chromium.

Purge and reinstallation didn't help.

I see this as well. It appears that the tar.gz file gets downloaded, but the libflashplayer.so flie is never installed correctly.

I'm running 64 bit as well.

Same here. Flash doesn't work in Chrome and Firefox. I had to force installation of older version of this package: 10.1.85.3 to make it work again.

I can confirm this bug. Flash stopped working after the update to 10.2.
nspluginwrapper -l shows nothing.

Thanks for reporting this issue. Are there any files in your /var/lib/flashplugin-installer directory?

Marc: I had this problem (as I stated previously), then I forced synaptic to install older package.

After your answer I did update (so 10.2.152.27 were istalled again) and... everything works. I do have libflashplayer.so at /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer

Strange...

Hmm...that's odd. I can't seem to reproduce this.

Is anyone here getting this issue who is _not_ running Kubuntu?

Just removed flashplugin-nonfree, then did a sudo apt-get update, then did a sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree. Restarted Chromium and flash is working again. I now have libflashplayer.so in the above mentioned directory.

Works for me. The problem is KPackageKit, the installation must be done with apt-get and not with KPackageKit.

I'm afraid I can't recreate this issue. Installed the old flashplugin-installer from KPackageKit, enabled updates, upgraded to the new flashplugin-installer, /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so still works

I think I managed to recreate this once, the flash tar wasn't downloaded and so didn't install. Unfortunately I don't think packagekit does output logging by default. killing and running /usr/lib/packagekit/packagekitd (as root) gives output but I haven't been able to recreate it since, the tar has downloaded and installed fine

I think the "sizes didn't match" is a separate issue, that happens regardless of whether the tar downloads or not

But why it should be looking for host address "\002" is a mystery

Same Problem in Kubuntu amd64 11.04:

KPackageKit could not update the flashplugin-installer: No error during update with KPackageKi, but the new flashplugin will not downloaded and installed.

This Problem happens only on 64bit Kubuntu installations.

I can reproduce on Kubuntu amd64 11.04 the problem themroc has.

I have flash installed using apt-get, but updating using KPackageKit just removes the plugin. Reinstalling using KPackageKit doesn't help, but apt-get does work.

I have the same problem and it still exists.

It can be solved by purging the flashplugin-* directories and reinstalling flash by either using the "additional packages available" dialogue when opening reqonk, or using apt-get.

Running updated Kubuntu 11.04_64 KDE 4.6.3.

Would be nice to get this problem solved. Makes updating your system using KPackageKit for newbies VERY annoying.
