Bug Description
Binary package hint: dpkg
Since natty, most postinst scripts fail when run by either PackageKit or the QApt Worker. These failures never occur when running under apt-get or synaptic, but since both PackageKit and QApt fail identically, and at the least PackageKit hasn't had any changes since maverick I must assume that this is a regression on a level lower than both of these.
Since both the QApt Worker and PackageKit daemon run as a rooted dbus daemon, I've not ever been able to see exactly what the scripts fail with, aside from the generic "exit status 2" reported by APT. Hopefully apport will have collected more info.

This morning I installed kword, and the libc-bin postinst script caused an apparently abrupt end in the logging. The two installations I did tonight to get logs for this bug seem to have not been logged at all.
Not much to go on either way, but it should be fairly reproducible.
