Another thing to try is to rename your profile to check if the problem comes from something in the profile:
- move profile: mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla.bak
- start firefox.
- if it changes nothing:
   - erase newly created dir: rm -rf .mozilla
   - restore profile: mv ~/.mozilla.bak ~/.mozilla
