Thank you for your bug report, do you have this template ready? Did you take into consideration how to deal with translations updates for those? The current upstream template has copies for each translations in the source but we can't deal with doing a source upload every time there is a translation change...

Joshua gave me a template, but I think they want to do some formatting first, so waiting for the final template.

I raised with Joshua the translation issue yesterday and talked with dpm. Apparently, the only way to deal with that easily for evolution is pasting on a wiki page + call for translators. So, all translation won't be integrated to Launchpad and will be carry as a patch, which is quite… ackward.

I think we should first really ensure that the template is the final one and that we don't call for translators again and again and distro-patch each time because of a tiny change…

Not only will your documents, photos, music, and notes stay in sync
across all of your computers and with your personal cloud, but all of
your Evolution contacts will as well.

by launching the Ubuntu One Control Panel.

All contacts in the “Ubuntu One” address book are automatically synced
with your personal cloud. Conveniently view and modify contact
information in Evolution or the Ubuntu One website. Ubuntu One will even
keep your Evolution contacts in sync with your mobile phone.

Hey Rodney,

the concern was more on the i18n part which isn't handled on that patch that on providing the default mail patch.

Hey Didier,

The way the evolution translations for the default mail work. Changing that is going to take a lot more work. Is there any reason these separate files aren't pulled into the separate locale packages along with the rest of the translations, so that only the /C/ version is included in the evolution package itself?

The issue is that rosetta knows basically only about gettext translations and can't import those, not export them, nor let translators use the website to translate...

How much the ubuntuone team cares about that? How many users do read the default email? Could we figure an another way to get ubuntuone advertised which doesn't cost us maintainance work over time?

FWIW, old upstream bug for Evolution: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206066

I'd still be happy to implement the intltool-side of things supporting generic text translation with special tags (rough proposal I described in http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-i18n/2004-December/msg00112.html)

See linked branch. Danilo, could you please check it and see if there's anything missing? Since there are no translations for the messages in the po/ directory, it doesn't seem to do anything, as you told me, so not sure it is correct.

We will need the intltool patch from Danilo in the Maverick package for this to work also

Thanks Rodrigo, could you split the patch in one for the changes allowing translations and one for the templates?

Just linked intltool branch that includes Danilo's patch, so with these 2 branches, all should be ok. Danilo, anything missing?

Just a comment: it would be good to get this in before the user interface freeze deadline, so that translators have enough time to actually translate it.

The recent changes seems a bit later for this cycle let's delay that to next cycle and use the first approch for maverick to just drop the default email as it was suggested when the bug has been opened. David, do you want to organize translations for this template using the wiki as Didier described early in the bug?

Do we really need the text to be there twice in text and html? What is the email encoding, ie is "we’ve raised" an error or the correct encoding?

Sure, I'll be happy to do that if that's the decision. If so, could
someone from the Ubuntu One team pass me the final text?

Thanks!

Seb - This is an export of the message directly from Evolution. The default Evolution message has the both the text and html. I guess it does that if you have an html message.
David - I'll send you the mbox file.
