1. Is this reproducible?  Yes
2. If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? Be as detailed as possible.  When I open an existing contact in Evolution under my "Google" contacts, I am unable to make changes.  If I delete a phone number and replace it with another the error applies.  When I add an address to a blank address field, the error applies.
This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

Status in “evolution” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
Binary package hint: evolution

When I update a field for an existing contact I am able to delete the old number and enter the new digits.  When I press "OK," an error window pops up that reads, "Error modifying contact.  Contact ID already exists."  The changes are therefore not implemented and I am left with the old phone number.  I am unable to make changes to the contacts in evolution.  There are no duplicate entries for the contacts I am trying to update.  I am using Ubuntu 9.10.
