Comment 4 for bug 840875

I'm also affected by this issue, however I think the message is send because I have it as a Startup Application. On login no network connection is available, which causes the messages and just after these messages appear a network connection is available and everything connects properly.
If I close the application and start it with a working connection I do not see any notifications.

So a fix might be to first check for a network connection before empathy tries to connect.
