I get the same error WITHOUT Intel RAID. Ubuntu Studio Karmic 9.10 simply fails to install GRUB (at least GRUB 1), even if you follow the alleged workaround for a related problem documented here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8264172&postcount=12.

The fact that Ubuntu Studio won't install, and the developers admit the issue, seems to me to be what we'd call a STOP SHIP issue, and require the ISO images to be re-rolled with corrected code.
