Can you tell us which driver you are using? Did you try any alternative drivers?

Please follow the instructions of the sections "CUPS error_log" and "Capturing print job data" on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems. Please also attach the PPD file of the printer (from /etc/cups/ppd/).

I did some test. The printer works well with official Xerox driver:
- Ubuntu 10.04 (i386) - CUPS 1.4.3
- Ubuntu 11.04 (i386) - CUPS 1.4.6
- Ubuntu 11.10 (i386) - CUPS 1.5.0

The color bug is present:
- Ubuntu 12.04 (i386) - CUPS 1.5.3
- Ubuntu 12.10b1 (i386) - CUPS 1.6.1

I couldn't test amd64 version. I don't know how to install this driver to amd64.

Everyone who has this problem on Ubuntu, can you please edit the file

/usr/share/cups/mime/cupsfilters.convs

changing the 100 to a 0 in the line

application/vnd.cups-pdf application/vnd.cups-raster 100 pdftoraster

and then restart CUPS (command "sudo restart cups").

Does this solve the problem?

I've removed all cups packages from 12.04 and reinstalled using 11.10 so I have 1.5.0-8 installed, but I'm still getting this problem. Does anyone know what additional package(s) I should try to remove / downgrade to revert to the earlier working cups / PDF filtering (without having to completely re-install 11.10)?

When I come home I can attach what you want.
I have Kubuntu 12.10 and cups 1.6.1-0ubuntu11. As I wrote in #23. When I print color page it is incorrect.

Removing the "Incomplete" status as for now no additional files are needed.

I have asked for help on the OpenICC (Color Management) mailing list, probably this is a bad interference of the color management in the input file, the CUPS filters, and the printer.

Thanks for the link Kai-Uwe, although I'm not sure what suggests it is a vendor driver issue from there (but I'm far from an expert).
That link does confirm the colour issues in this bug on the affected OS.

Comment #10 here shows the testing by Gyuris that with the same official driver the printer works perfectly with Cups under 10.04 - 11.10, versions 1.4.3 - 1.5.0, but following a change in 12.04 / Cups 1.5.3 it prints very strange colours.

FWIW I'm running on i386 - officially supported OS by Xerox.

All I had to do was remove printer-driver-foo2zjs and compile this new version to work with Dell 1355cnw

1. I installed this package: http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/f/foo2zjs/foo2zjs_20130303dfsg0-1_all.deb
2. Reinstall the printer.
But nothing changed. Bug is present.

You need to install the printer-driver-foo2zjs package, but you might want to
rebuild it on your Ubuntu.

Hey I just bought this printer (probably should have researched first) I have two computers running ubuntu one i386 the other amd64 I managed to fix the amd64 issue with the rpm linux method (stated by a previous poster)

But now I'm trying to get the color issue solved but I think I'm missing something, I tried the foo2zjs driver but on top of everything else I've never successfully compiled from source before... so if anyone has a few minutes to give me a hand with this I'd really appreciate it!

After clean install of 13.10 I have tried default recommended driver "Xerox Workcentre 6015 Foomatic/foo2hbp12" embedded in Ubuntu against network address "socket://x.x.x.x:9100" (where x.x.x.x is IP address my 6015NI printer) and... it surprisingly worked, colors are OK. I had to swith from Monochrome to Color mode indeed. It made my day.
