In Oneiric this problem does not exist any more. There all option settings (I tried Color/Gray and Duplex on my HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A Plus) are correctly followed.

Dmitry, please send your files anyway, for a possible SRU (Stable Release Update) on Natty.
