pecemkd and horace, I apologize. I should have realized the difficulty in having you run that command...

At the login screen, you will see an option at the bottom to choose which desktop mode you want to log in as. The default mode is "Gnome", but you should be able to choose "Gnome-failsafe". Try that to see if you are able to log in so that you can run the command.
