The solution described in the bug-report (a link to the ubuntu-forums) is very tricky for people that are not used to work with a terminal or editor.
Ubuntu-Tweak instead allows you to choose a custom command for a file type, which you cannot do any more in the 11.10 (Gnome 3) environment.
