Binary package hint: cheese

Cheese does not work at all with my Acer Aspire 9300 (webcam called orbcam or something like that - it's the standard acer webcam). When I take a picture the LED by the webcam goes on but the Cheese window just stays gray the whole time. Moreover, the program freezes ~20-30 seconds later.

Running the program from command line yields the following output when trying to take a picture:

(cheese:8211): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer instance

(cheese:8211): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_connect_data: assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed

I'm running 8.10 x86_64
