Have just installed Ubuntu 9.10 onto a USB using Linux Live USB Creator (www.linuxliveusb.com) with the intention of carrying Ubuntu in my pocket with a "persistent" configuration". Install went fine.
When I booted a PC from the Ubuntu USB, it sat for about 4 mins scrolling: .... Buffer I/O error on device fd0 .... on the screen before eventually giving up and proceeding with boot.
Sorry I'm pretty green on the whole linux/ubuntu/boot process, so can't tell you much more. I understand that disabling floppy in the bios might be an option, but that's not something I want to have to do to every maching I may end up using.
