I have a DiNovo Edge and it was working in Grub.
Changing hiddev back to hidraw in 70-hid2hci.rules fixed this for me. I found the instructions here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/550288/comments/10
Comments in the header of 70-hid2hci.rules say not to edit because the file will be overwritten on updates.
So for now I apparently have to redo this fix every time an update overwrites the rules file.
I did not turn off bluetooth in the notification bar, but it disappeared. I have not tried to connect other bluetooth devices, such as my phone.
