I think they're both things I should be able to handle although the BKL removal has the potential to introduce some hard to debug problems. All going well though it might be possible to get a patch "blessed" upstream within a few weeks.
The Debian upload I made has a reference to this LP bug in the changelog. I guess that'll either need stripping before pulling into Ubuntu or a separate bug for 3.0 support needs to become the "master".
