During testing of Lubuntu 15.14 32bit image 20150513, the application "audacious" was unable to detect any suitable mixer elements. After I launched the program two errors showed,

ALSA error: No suitable mixer element found.

ALSA error: snd_mixer_find_selem failed.

I expected the application to launch ready for the user to open an audio file to run. I have an installed Lubuntu 15.10 64bit system that I am using as a production system. The same problem existed when I launched the same application. Even after installed the audio codecs "gstreamer", audacious still could not detect a suitable mixer. The workaround will be to remove alsa and install pulseaudio.

Audacious opens waiting for an audio file to be opened
