I can confirm on Gutsy 7.10 2007-10-14 update, the same error. However, when I remove audacious audacious-plugins audacious-plugins-extra and install them back again, it works. So somebody please make sure this problem will not cause problems to users upgrading from 7.04 to 7.10.

Yeah, sorry, that's my fault. I forgot to add the necessary Conflicts/Replaces when moving a file from a binary package to another (when fixing bug #123150).
Luke Yelavich uploaded ubuntu4 to fix that (thanks again), but unfortunately it's too late to go to gutsy.
So I'm going to upload to -proposed (before it goes to -updates).

Charles, when did you dist-upgrade from feisty to gutsy?
I was saying that it shouldn't affect people that dist-upgraded from feisty to gutsy *after* ubuntu3 was uploaded. Because libcurl.so wasn't in any package in feisty, so there shouldn't be any conflict.
If you dist-upgraded *before* the ubuntu3 upload, and tried to upgrade to a later version afterwards, then that will fail.

Actually guys, if you remove all the audacious packages with a --purge, or a
fully remove in synaptic, and then reinstall them, that fixes the issue (at
least until the next update)

Charles: so you dist-upgraded before ubuntu3 was in the archive, that's why you are hit by this bug. Ubuntu Studio has probably nothing to do with it.
You can do something like what Zach said, but that would be great if at least two people would wait until ubuntu4.1 is accepted into gutsy-proposed in order to be able to provide the feedback needed for it to be pushed to gutsy-updates.

Adrien,

I am glad that I asked about waiting. It's really not causing me any problems at the moment other than not allowing me to install two packages so waiting is not a problem. Thanks for the support!

I also am affected with this. I upgraded to Gutsy 2 days ago.

I'll wait on fixing this and report on ubuntu4.1.

One note to others, make sure you de-select the packages before doing routine updates as the error stops the whole update process on my machine.

We need at least two other people confirming it works, before we can push it to gutsy-updates. Thanks.

Works allright, the update first removed the -extra, then updates the
plugins, and then re-installs the plugin-extra.

finally after a week the update-manager-icon is removed from the tray
