Yes I reproduced it and recorded it with Istanbul, I do not know unfortunately were the file is stored. It should be: ~/desktop-recording.ogg. There is nothing there. Anyway, I tried it twice, but I did not get an error report. Instead I found again that only 3 GB of memory gets detected, while 4 GB is installed. I described this earlier in the memtest86 bug. As soon as 100% of memory is reached, it crashes. Swap stays at about 10% throughout.

Please find screenshots in attachment, virtualbox allows me to select 3.7 GB of memory (leaving 300 MB for the host), while gnome-system-monitor recognises only 3GB. I have described this problem on the ubuntu forum. See link.

Hi there, I think it is impossible to describe this bug on a single bug per bug report basis. Could you please check out my post about BIOS settings being altered, possibly by are in relationship with the consolekit bug(s)?

The reason I initially described this bug as a potential security risk, is due to the fact that it did lead under a previous form to a freeze up of synaptic, leaving my password visible on screen for more than 2 hours (see slideshow).

Since this bug is difficult to invoke on purpose, but often occurs and leaves my system unrepairable about every three days, forcing me to reinstall without partitioning, I think it is better to bundle my experiences on the ubuntu forum first:
